ON THE BLOG CHANGE!

Here’s a quote that is coming to be treasured by me more and more…

The land seemed full of creaking and cracking and sly noises, but there was no sound of voice or foot. Far above the Ephel Duath in the West the night-sky was still dim and pale. There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”- J.R.R Tolkien, The Return of the King, 199.

This was inevitable. I’m horrible with deciding names and concepts, but i’ve landed on this one (for now). The concept of a wood between worlds was literary without being too specific. As i’ve started to find out what this whole blog thing is about, and what i’m doing here, i’ve discovered that this blog desires to be focused more on the exploration of specific Christian ideas and their relation to our lives, and Tolkien’s quote sumarizes the intensity and magnificience of the truth of God in a way that astounds me. Light is penetrating, overwhelming, intense, pure, and warm. Beauty is captivating, unique, alluring, and satisfying. These things, amongst many others, incapsulate how i feel about the God-head, and i hope to communicate a little of that in this blog. Thanks for your patience! Now, on to more light, and on to more high beauty….
